This is "The desert rock All Star’s", Mario Lalli? You got it, Brant Bjork? Fuck yeah, Gary Arce from Yawning Man? sure man, they all met last year and after a couple of jamming they released "Extraterrestrial Highway", a road trip to nowhere, too "space" to be FATSO JETSON, too much Mario's FJ Guitar to be Yawning Man, yet, a nice balance between aforementioned groups, as for Brant's, he plays the bass here, so is not much his influence, though, you can fill the groove. Highlight for me is "Scrapping the Barrel", only three riffs make this the most shadowy song ever came out from Mario's guitar.
As they say, it's like Black Sabbath goes surfing, great for listening when thinking of nothing, however, I could say I expected a little more from this legends. Anyway It definitively deserves a post.
1. Heavy Light
2. Aqua Beard
3. Scraping the Barrel
4. Draggin Balls
5. Extraterrestrial Highway
6. Spiritual Hangover
7. Progressive Guillitine
8. Expanding Darkness

Excellent post, Matias. I'm really digging this. That lead tone is unmistakably Lalli, isn't it? I'm with you on "Scraping the Barrel", even if it does sound like a bit of a "Cruel & Delicious" demo. Very dark and hypnotic, though. My favorite is probably the opener, "Heavy Light", or the closer, "Progressive Guillotine". I dig the long drawn-out jams with lots of Lalli leads and jam changes. Great stuff, man. Thanks.
My fault. "Progressive Guillotine" isn't the closer. Diggin' that groove, though.
anyone having problems with mediafire sending part 2? I've gotten parts 1 & 3 but it just sits there on 2 and never sends it.
no man, all parts working......let me know if it stalls again
Hey there,
Dave Lang from Lexicon Devil label/blog here. Just letting you know that the Alone Records version of Extraterrestrial Highway is now deleted and it will be available exclusively on my label. In fact, it's out next week. Out in October '07 will be Yawning Man's Vista Point CD, which combines their Pothead EP and Rock Formations LP. Brant has now left Ten East and Greg Ginn(!!!) has joined on bass. New album out on LD in January, along w/ a new Yawning Man LP. Excited? You bet!
Cheers,
Dave

Dave-- Thanks for the info. I know I'm looking forward to the new stuff, especially if Greg Ginn's involved. We'll make sure to link you here at G.O.M.E. so people know where to get updates on these projects. We're all about taking the absolute best rock & roll to the people, though we try to specialize in HTF/OOP albums, as well as live sets. Obviously if intellectual property was a concern you would've said so, but we'll be happy to link your blog and/or site and support Lexicon Devil.
Matias is right, we have a lot of musicians checking here daily, and we hope to eventually post some of their stuff. You should check it out.
Thanks again for stopping in, and please keep coming back.
Cheers!
