They didn't come from Hungary. Gypsies are from India or Armenia. The peoples speaking Finno-Ugric languages are descendants of Scythians, Huns, Avars, and/or Sumerians, and they live in Hungary.

During the next 200 years, the Gypsies slowly advanced southwest into Arabia, Egypt and North Africa, northwest into the Byzantine Empire and established themselves in the southern Balkan countries (Serbia, Moldavia, Bulgaria, Hungary and the surrounding area) before 1300.

Also, tnx for redneck blues ;-)

I'm the anonymous No.1. And my nerdy comment wasn't made to start some bullshit argument. I was just surprised with Matias, at some point wrong, statement: "..gypsies came from Hungary". Some of my ancestors are from there too, so I was intrigue. His statement wasn't discriminating or something, I value romani culture and their music.
Quote: "Roma music plays an important role in Eastern European cultures such as Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Republic of Macedonia, Albania, Hungary, Russia, and Romania, and the style and performance practices of Roma musicians have influenced European classical composers such as Franz Liszt and Johannes Brahms...."

"The peoples speaking Finno-Ugric languages are descendants of Scythians, Huns, Avars, and/or Sumerians, and they live in Hungary."

The people speaking Finno-Ugric languages are actually descendants the Finno-Ugric tribes that lived west of the Ural mountains. The Hungarian people we have today are a mix of these Ugro-Finns and a bunch of other tribes which they contacted with on the way from Ural to the Carpathians.

(Sumerian origin is bullshit, to be honest)
