QOTSA - Live but Rare (Bootleg)

When I first stumbled with this blog, I was looking for some live QOTSA shows, back in those days Big Jack used to post lots of bootlegs, so is kind of poetic that this would be one of the final posts, as my personal tribute to the blog.

So here is another fine request, lot's of live and rare songs, from the dessert sessions to some Mondo generator covers.. range goes from 1997 to 2005 I think.. some in good quality, some of them not, but I you are a QOTSA fan you will appreciate it.
More than 2 hours of interesting stuff

The "Mysterious" Track on Songs for the deaf

All right, let's begin with the story behind this track..... back in time in 2002, when this was released in the US, but not yet released in Argentina by Sony, I guess they printed a month later than the official world release date in Argentina, so it was nearly impossible to get this imported and too fucking expensive, so we had to wait to the local print, (which always sounds in lower quality than the American editions) but speaking of QOTSA's, they always add a bonus track, in this case The Kinks cover "Everybody is gonna be happy", so far so good. The thing goes like this... since I couldn't wait for the local edition, and even less pay for an import album, bear in mind that in those days Internet wasn't what it is today, imagine that in Argentina...
Well, for my surprise I found a copy of this record in a "street records store" AKA a person who sells home-burned CDs and movies in the street...really unusual for this type of music, anyway the more surprising thing was that it was even before the world release..
Eventually, a month later I get an official copy, but there were some differences, in sound and about this track that wasn't listed... some days ago I went to a friends house who had a pirated copy bought on the street like a year ago in a very different place where it bought it....and guess what, it has this song right between tracks 9 & 10, so thinking, I'm pretty sure that most of the pirate copies distributed in Argentina came from a Master tape who slipped in hands of someone who made a copy for this pirates to distribute, believe me, this kind of business is conducted like a mafia, so if I guess right, that song was on the master tape sent by Interscope to Argentinean editors and went to someone that made circulate a copy even before the printings.

Speaking about the song, I'm pretty sure that is Mark Lenegan voice, and absolutely sure that is a Dave Groll's drumming....I never found this song in any compilation of B sides or whatsoever, did some research on Lenegan's stuff, but i found nothing till now...
Have you ever heard this song before?

HAWKWIND - IN SEARCH OF SPACE (1971)

Yeahh, an oldie baby, this is band that inspired many of the space rock fellows out there, great desert background, psych from toe to top. Indeed, I think this is the album that Lemmy recorded with them in his short career in Hawkwind.
Pay attention to “Masters of the universe” track and try to link to QOTSA earliest sound….Another piece of history on the G.O.M.E.

01.You Shouldn't Do That
02.You Know You're Only Dreaming
03.Master Of The Universe
04.We Took The Wrong Step Years Ago
05.Adjust Me
06.Children Of The Sun
07.Seven By Seven
08.Silver Machine
09.Born To Go
And to pay off for my lack of recent activity down here, here is a bonus to my man RON, You benn asking for a pre-Qotsa Demo? Well I think that the only thing you will find is this..The Gamma Ray (as they used to call themselves before qotsa's name) demo of "Give the Mule what He Wants-Demo". I know I own you Ron...I'm on it..

QOTSA - LIVE AT BIG DAY OUT 2003 (2003)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I guess it's been a minute since I've thrown up a QOTSA boot, so here ya go. I actually meant to post this months ago, and thought I already had. Blame it on the nicotine, valium, vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol.
This is a great set, though. Great energy, great soundboard recording, great setlist. The 250 of you that are gonna download this without leaving a comment...well...I guess we at G.O.M.E. bleed for leeches, so enjoy, suckercocks. To the Faithful, this one's for you.

2. Go with the Flow
3. I'm Gonna Leave You
4. A Song for the Deaf

QOTSA/BEAVER - THE SPLIT CD (1998) ***BY REQUEST***

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
This is a fantastic split EP, if only for the BEAVER tracks. I'm assuming everyone here is already familiar with "The Bronze", and "These Ain't the Droids You're Looking For" doesn't offer much aside from a cool title. The BEAVER songs, on the other stand, stand up the rest of their excellent discography. "Morocco" showcases them outclassing Josh Homme in a style he helped create, while "AWOL" is a beautifully sloppy fuzzed-out masterpiece.

QOTSA - THE ERA VULGARIS POCKETBOOK COMPANION (2007)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
OK, I won't call this a "triumphant" return, but I do think you guys will get a kick out of this. Yeah, maybe most of us have already heard the majority of these tracks, but here's a nice little pocketbook companion for your Era Vulgaris CD, regardless of how you got it! For Big Jack, the standout track is the "Christian Brothers" cover. I'm a longtime Elliott Smith fan, and this is just a cool fuckin' cover. The rest of the tracks kick ass as well, though I'm not real crazy about the "I'm Designer" remix.

1. The Fun Machine Took a Shit and Died
2. White Wedding
3. Suture Up Your Future (acoustic)
4. Running Joke
5. I'm Designer (remix)
6. 3's & 7's (acoustic)
7. Era Vulgaris
8. Christian Brothers
9. Into the Hollow (acoustic)
10. Goin' Out West

MASTERS OF REALITY - DEEP IN THE HOLE (2001) ***COMPLIMENTS OF MATIAS***

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Straight from our main man Matias, here's what I think is the best MASTERS OF REALITY album, Deep in the Hole. Chris Goss is a visionary, not just in his compositions, but the way his records sound (check your KYUSS collection for proof). Backed by Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri, this is Goss' finest hour. The curmudgeons rattled by Era Vulgaris and Give Us Barabbas will find their rock fix in "A Wish for a Fish" and "High Noon Amsterdam". Those who love Barabbas will find their own treasures in this rarity, particularly "Counting Horses" and "Roof of the Shed". Throw Mark Lanegan in the mix, and the result is not only Chris Goss' greatest project, but one of the greatest rock & roll albums of all time.

1. Third Man on the Moon
2. A Wish for a Fish
3. Counting Horses
4. Major Lance
5. Scatagoria
6. High Noon Amsterdam
7. Corpus Scorpios Electrified
8. Deep in the Hole
9. Roof of the Shed
10. Shotgun Sun
