Out of service - Please use the stairs

Well, time has come, and what better time to finish this than Chrismas, the birth of baby Jesus and the death of the old GOME, so next year rise your wine glass and propose a toast for both.. haha, no, just kidding, my religion is music, I do not believe in all that church crap, I just found some time today to make a proper "Goodbye" post and it's kind of poetic in this very same date, so here we go..

4 years ago (well, almost) Mr Big Jack started this journey, and a few months later I bumped with this blog as most of you and before I realized I was part of it...back on those days there where only bunch of blogs like this, the mighty Sludge Swamp was born in those times, Mercenario also, and we all hanged out in here..

those were good times, when DMCA take downs notification didn't bust your balls... anyway..

I remember now Big Jack's radio podcasts, my project for making a world underground recording from musicians all over the world (yeah a bit ambitious and naif may I say) but we had a good time.

Ok, let's wrap things around, the reason I'm doing this post is for you, I didn't want to just let this blog fade away, you deserve more than that.. year after year you probed to be an excellent audience, always thankful, always commenting, and also sharing music, so the least I can do is say goodbye and thank you all for being, part of this aswell, maybe the most important part.

Through this years I learned a lot from you, I met people with the same interest from all over the globe, and even great artits that a regular guy living at the end of the world could have never met..

So this is it, as Big Jack used to say, be nice with each other and see you around.. it's not like I will unplug myself from this music virtual world, I'll be around on the bloggerhood, commenting, busting bloggers balls and all, it's just I won't post anything on this blog anymore.. it's time to move on.

No, no no, don't cry, it's not a big loss anyway..in these blogs you will find all the music you could expect to find here and more, many more..

and many more I can't remember right now..
So, guys and gals, take care, and remember, if it's too loud, you are to old.
See you around.

oh.. where are my fucking manners?.. Merry xmass and happy new year to all of you.

Fluid Underground - Decembar (2010)

Our friend Milos sent me this one, straight from Serbia!! yeah, they rock there. And what I found really interesting is (as you may notice in tracklist) that they sing in original language. Their sound is hard to label, with many influences. Very tight recording, lot's of studio hours I guess, delivering a pretty dam god record.
Enjoy & thanks Milôs!!

Tia Carrera - The November Session (2005)

QOTSA - Live but Rare (Bootleg)

When I first stumbled with this blog, I was looking for some live QOTSA shows, back in those days Big Jack used to post lots of bootlegs, so is kind of poetic that this would be one of the final posts, as my personal tribute to the blog.

So here is another fine request, lot's of live and rare songs, from the dessert sessions to some Mondo generator covers.. range goes from 1997 to 2005 I think.. some in good quality, some of them not, but I you are a QOTSA fan you will appreciate it.

5 More Records

As you may have noticed, I haven't been very active lately.. that could be due to lack of time, lack of interesting things to post, and because most of the recent post have been taken down, so keep going with this is getting pointless, so, this is my prop: 5 more records as per your request and we shut this down this for good.
Save your appreciation & thanks giving words, the "sentimental" post will come at the end..ha ha
So, think! what do you want to hear?
Cheers!!

Duo Deno - DuoDeno (2010?)

The guys from DuoDeno left this in the comments..to be honest.. I didn't heard of them, but they grabbed my attention instantly.. first because they are Argentinians, second because it's instrumental and finally because they are a duet, just guitar and drums.. I think duets are very interesting, because having only two pieces encourages creativity a lot.. and because you split money and chicks in two ha!
Listen to it, it's quite good, and it has that Argentinian trade mark..
Cheers

Yellow #5 - Demon Crossing (2005)

Check out these names: Molly McGuire (Mondo Generator), Brant Bjork (Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Mondo Generator), and Dave Catching (Earthlings?, Mondo Generator). Chris Goss (Masters of Reality) does guest vocals on "Moon Man".

It's not heavy or stoner rock at all. The closest comparison you could make would be to the softer, female sung Desert Sessions tunes, or some of the Earthlings? stuff. But the songs are strong and will stick with you after only a couple listens. Some of the tunes are poppy in a singer/songwriter kind of way, others have a jazz swing to them. Over it all are Molly's infectious vocals, conveying a sassy, sultry attitude that adds a neat personality to the tunes. Brant's drumming is laid back and tasteful, like his work on the Jalamanta album. He quietly holds down the beat without distracting you from the melodies. Dave Catching adds some pedal steel here and there to add some twang to a few of the songs.

One of our readers, Tom has a radio show in the US, in Connecticut to be more specific (WESU 88.1 FM) and since he mentioned the blog, the least I can do is to make a little post to encourage our faithfuls to gave it a listen, it's a great show, tons of great music (you can check past playlist here), 3 hours of the best stoner/sludge/doom and whatever you may find in this blog.
Every Monday at 10 p.m. (GMT -4)  you can stream online in excellent quality from HERE and listen worldwide.
In case you know shit about time zones, you can check it here .
By the way, if any of you has a radio show which can be streamed in decent quality, let me know, I will be happy to spread the word.

Don't forget to listen!!

Well, this is special edition from Los Natas, or at least from Sergio Ch (vocals, guitar)..

Solodolor is a side project which involves Sergio Ch (Natas) on gtr&vox, Billy Anderson (the famous producer) on bass, "El Topo" (Dragonauta) and Gustavo Rowek (argentinian metal scene icon) on drums, featuring some covers, even from Natas, with some guest singing from outside the project, and 3 own songs, pure sludge baby..

Sahara Surfers - Spacetrip on a Paper Plane (2010)

Michael, the drummer of this band sent me this over Facebook to share it with you and spread the word, so here we go....

2 things to point out. One, that they are from Austria, I haven't heard much bands from that country I think, so it's kind of an exclusive for me, and the other issue, a female lead singer, which is something you don't see everyday in this scene, so, before even listening to it, you know something interesting will come out.

Going trough the tracklist you will find different textures, from quiet & dark passages to heavy power riffs, but what really hooked me was the singing, great voice & extremely catchy chorus, and when you have that, you got a winner..
Overall sound is excellent, very tight for a first release, solid mix, very well played intruments, like any German or Swedish band we are used to hear here.
I guess my favourite track would be the opening "Colour Jam" which I can guess is inspired somehow in Colour Haze, I can tell you that for the kind of guitar chord progression in the chorus, with an extra 5th... well you will realize that for yourself..

So here you have another "must listen".. and don't forget to support the artists, order now while they are unsigned.
One more time, thanks to the guys for sharing this "famous to be" band.

01. Colour Jam
02. Propeller
03. Age
04. 812
05. Sister In Shade
06. Gas
